I'm Kylie Mohr, an award-winning journalist based in Montana. I report for High Country News, covering Alaska, the Pacific Northwest and the northern Rockies.
I write evocatively about landscapes, ecosystems and communities — as well as the forces that shape them — with dispatches from the forest, prairie, mountains and tundra. In 2021, I completed a reporting fellowship for E&E News/POLITICO and graduated from the University of Montana with a Master of Arts in environmental science and natural resource journalism. My past experience includes three years as a Wyoming newspaper reporter and stints in national newsrooms.
I'm a member of the Society of Environmental Journalists and the Outdoor Writers Association of America. I also speak on radio programs and at university classes, and write copy for clients like onX and GearJunkie.
